DRAWING CLASS
This is a weekly, in-studio program introducing the fundamentals of line drawing.
Projects begin with a series of simple shape-copying exercises to sharpen the eye and practice disciplined mark making.
From here, studies progress to perspective and volume drawing to learn how to convincingly interpret three- dimensional objects onto a two-dimensional surface.

PAINTING CLASS
This is a weekly, in-studio program that familiarizes the student with the basic application techniques of oil painting, and a controlled approach to color mixing based on the Munsell Color System.
Projects focus on an exhaustive study of the three dimensions of color (hue, value, and chroma) through a series of simple, yet comprehensive exercises from life. Projects progress from monochromatic study to full color painting, and include volume study, cast painting, and still life.

GENERAL POLICIES
Please read and agree to these policies when registering for a class at Carlin Academy:
Registration – A $50 non-refundable registration fee is required for each course per session. This fee has been included in the tuition prices quoted on the previous page. The registration fee will be returned if the class is canceled. Tuition balance is due by the first class of each session. Students can enter classes at any time during a session, vacancies permitting, and will have their tuition adjusted accordingly.
Refunds – Refund of tuition is adjusted to the following schedule:
Prior to the 2nd class meeting: 75%
After the 2nd class meeting: 0%
This schedule reflects the tuition after the deduction of the registration fee.
Absences – Missed classes can be made up through vacancies during other class times. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule make-up classes with the instructor. Classes must be made up in the semester in which they are missed.
Payment – Cash, checks, and digital payments accepted. Checks made payable to Neilson Carlin, and sent to Carlin Academy, 128 South Willow Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
